Weekend Shananigans & A Monday Meme
I got a cold a week ago Sunday, and I actually lost my voice completely by Wednesday after a pretty bad day of subbing. I took the next day off and went back to a new assignment on Friday...and lost it again!
So all weekend I've been speaking in a whisper, begging hubby to speak on my behalf while shopping.
At one point while shopping for sunglasses at Lenscrafter hubby wasn't available to speak up for me when one of the salesladies asked if we had been helped yet.
I squawked and squeaked and made sounds like a bullfrog while everyone in the store, both workers and customers, looked at me with horrified looks that said, "Make her stop! What is that noise? She's a monster! Look away! Children get into the house!"
Today I'm barely able to be heard again, but I'm still pretty hoarse. So I can't push it yet or I'll lose it again. I know of no remedies for bringing back a voice. I'll probably make some chicken soup.
Monday Madness
In the meantime, here's this week's Monday Madness:
1. What song gives you the most holiday cheer?
It's The Most Wonderful Time Of the Year by Johnny Mathis (it's the Christmas version of the Sound of Music's A Few of my Favorite Things)
2. Who is the hardest person to shop for on your holiday list?
Everyone!
3. When do you start your holiday shopping?
I start to window shop 3 weeks before, and then go back the week of
4. What food or drink do you love when it's cold out?
Hot Chocolate and Hot Apple Cider
5. What do you do to get rid of a cold or flu?
Chicken soup, hot tea with lemon, clear soda like 7Up, and more resting

Sorry to hear about your voice. I hope that you'll get better soon. I hope some chicken soup will do you some good. A nice rest will probably be an added help.
I love that song too. It's so festive and full of spirit. I heard it being played last weekend at the mall after the weekend fireworks. It was beautiful.
Take care,
Rach

I don't think there's much you can do about losing your voice except wait for it to return. It's only happened to me a couple of times in my life but it's the strangest feeling.
I hope you get better soon.

I have so been there. I actually got laringitis (sp?) once and it was so strange. You can't even squeak! I thought God must have been trying to tell me something - ha! Love you list. I grew up with Johnny Mathis Christmas Album! Love it!

boy I hate it about your voice. I get that twice a year since we moved to the South East. I hate it but my hubby loves it..smile!! Not much you can do except keep something in your mouth like hard candy or Halls. Drink a lot of fluids too. Great list/answers too. Take care and get well.

I am sorry that you are still not feeling well. I hope the chicken soup with help. I like tea with honey too - I know I will drink it tonight - everyone in the office is sick...
You know - I do all my Christmas shopping online. I do not like to go to the stores anyway and the least at Christmas time.

You sound like me with the holiday shopping. I know everything I need to get, I just wait until the last minute. It is kind of exciting, but I wouldn't call it stressful. Stressful would be not knowing what to get. Hope you have your voice back soon.
